Life Drawing Workshop: Fall 2011

Get your ART on at the Sony Life Drawing Workshop! I will be instructing a private, 8 week life drawing workshop for the artists and animators at Sony Online Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment America from September 13th to November 1st, this fall.

Every Tuesday night from 6 - 9 pm, we will draw from life, using nude models to study the human form, draw expressively and to practice observational drawing.

Sony Life Drawing Workshop : Art Supply List

Must Have:

A big drawing board, at least 18 x 24.

18 x 24 paper - your choice
                smooth newsprint - erases easier
                rough newsprint - nice grainy texture
                sketch paper - white (Canson Biggie Sketch or Strathmore sketch)
              
Drawing implements - one or many of the following:
                charcoal pencil's, soft -  General
                woodless graphite pencils - 6b
                graphite sticks - 6b
                conte crayons
                pastels
                colored pencils - get the cheap ones made by Blick.
                colored pencil sticks - the size of a small french fry, all color, no wood.
                pens - ball point

Pencil sharpener - get a good one, or a razor blade.
kneaded eraser
Small eraser -  like the Tuff Stick, the mechanical pencil of erasers.

Optional:

                Brush pens: Tombo, one end like a brush, the other a felt tip marker.
                watercolors
                oil pastels
                crayons
                markers - bring half dried up ones too, they make a nice texture
                other kinds of paper - toned or color
                sketchbooks

The SOE Life Drawing Workshop is a private workshop, open to artists and animators at SCEA and SOE San Diego only. The workshop is limited to 20 participants.

Artwork by local video game and movie concept artists, tee shirt designers and illustrators, presented by the San Diego Sketchbook Session Artists in collaboration with Chula Vista Community Arts Group and the Chula Vista Public Library.

Live Demo: Digital Photoshop painting by Dzu Nguyen. Caricatures by Seaworld artist, Jared Lipcomb. Free: balloon sculptures, face painting, henna tattoos, painting and drawing area for kids.  Music: Javier Batiz, Tori Roze and the Hot Mess. Food Trucks:  Crazy Wheel Coffee , Two for the Road , Delicioso Food Truck all donate 20% of proceeds to the Library.

San Diego Sketchbook Session Artists:
The San Diego Sketchbook Session Artists are a mix of professional artists currently working to create video games, concept art for movies, tee shirts, books, magazines and comics, all dedicated to supporting the arts in San Diego. They meet once a week at a cafe in San Diego to draw in their sketchbooks.
